An avalanche is one of nature’s most powerful natural disasters. The most powerful avalanches have uprooted trees and have destroyed entire roads and buildings. These natural disasters are caused by layers of snow building up on each other resulting in an unstable surface of snow mixed with ice. It was because of this raw power and force that Coloradans chose to name their newly acquired hockey team from Quebec after these disasters that happen quite frequently in the backcountry
Colorado Avalanche Drop 5th Straight Game
For the first time since mid December, the Avalanche looked like a top NHL team. In yesterday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks, the Avalanche looked a team in mid-playoff form. However, for the 5th straight game the Avs come out on the losing side.

Thursday night’s contest between the Colorado Avalanche and the Minnesota Wild proved to be one of the most exciting games of the season so far. Even though the Avs could not find the back of the net, they played a very physical, unselfish hockey game.

The last time the Avalanche played a home game was on January 24 against the Minnesota Wild. Tonight the Avs have déjà vu all over again as the Wild come lurking into Pepsi Center.
