At Mile High Sticking, 2024 filled us with excitement and thrills covering Colorado Avalanche hockey. We share the same passion that our readers hold for the sport and the team. That’s why we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you, dear reader, for joining us on the wild ride that was 2024, and hope you’ll join us on the next adventure that 2025 shapes up to be.
We recognize the diverse backgrounds Avalanche fans possess. Some fans are homegrown, die-hard Colorado faithful, while others come from all over North America, Europe, and around the world. That’s what makes Mile High Sticking such a rich and valuable community.
This site wouldn’t exist without the valuable contributions of our wonderful and insightful writing staff, and loyal readership.
With 2024 in the books, we now turn our attention to the 2025 calendar year. For us fans, this is an exciting time as the new year ushers a new opportunity to start over and put our best foot forward.
That’s our hope for the Colorado Avalanche in 2025. Of course, our ultimate desire is to see a Stanley Cup championship in the spring. But beyond taking home another Cup, the biggest New Year’s wish is for the Avs to play their best hockey, collectively and individually.
The team is peaking at the right time. So, there’s plenty of reason to believe the Avalanche can make a serious postseason run, hoping that this season won’t end in the bitter disappointment that last season did.
Colorado Avalanche turning over a new leaf in 2025
The 2023-24 season ended on a downer as the Avs were bounced in the second round of the playoffs. The team played well but were unable to make it over the hump. The reasons for that disappointment seemed to spill over into the start of this season.
The Avs’ rocky start was underscored by a nightmarish 0-4 start, prompting plenty to leave the Colorado Avalanche for dead on the side of the road.
Well, the Avs weren’t dead and they came back with a vengeance.
Now, the Avs are climbing up the Central Division standings. The team looks confident, playing in front of two NHL-caliber goaltenders in MacKenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood. Nathan McKinnon continues to do the things Nathan MacKinnon does, while Cale Makar, Mikko Rantanen, and the rest of the core look like the real deal.
So, if there’s one New Year’s wish from us at Mile High Sticking, it’s that everyone stays healthy (writers and readers, included). A healthy, productive team will hopefully lead to another Cup run come spring.
Can’t wait to see what the new year has in store for the Colorado Avalanche and its die-hard fan base. Stay tuned because we will have you covered all year long!
