Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon hit a historic milestone during Saturday night’s 6-5 win over the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena.
MacKinnon ended the night with a goal and two assists, giving him 130 points during the 2025 calendar year (including playoffs and regular season). 2025 marks the third consecutive season MacKinnon has reached the vaunted point total.
Nathan MacKinnon collected 1-2—3 in the third period and recorded his third calendar year with at least 70 regular-season assists (49-70—119 in 78 GP). The only other @Avalanche / Nordiques skater with as many is Peter Stastny (5x; most: 87 in 1983).#NHLStats:… pic.twitter.com/ccRhMclOFa

The feat put MacKinnon in elite company, becoming the fourth active player to reach such a milestone. Other active players to score 130 points in three-straight calendar years include Edmonton Oilers stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and also Pittsburgh Penguins legend Sidney Crosby.
Despite the three-point night on Saturday, MacKinnon remains four points behind McDavid for the league lead. The Avalanche sniper leads the league in goals, however, with 31. MacKinnon has a six-goal lead on the Boston Bruins’ leading goal-scorer, Morgan Geekie.
MacKinnon reaches another milestone for Nordiques-Avalanche franchise
Nathan MacKinnon also reached another interesting milestone for the Nordiques-Avalanche franchise.
MacKinnon reached 70 regular-season assists for the third season in a row. The only other player to achieve that feat in franchise history is Peter Stastny, who did it five times.
Considering the prolific scorers in Avalanche franchise history, MacKinnon’s feat is a testament to his high-end talent but also his consistency. MacKinnon has topped the 100-point threshold in his last three seasons, including a career-high 140 in 2023-24.
This season, MacKinnon is well on his way to another 100-point season. It would be the seventh of his career in which he has topped 90 points. Given his remarkable consistency and durability, MacKinnon should have no trouble adding to his already Hall of Fame-worthy numbers.
It’s also worth pointing out that MacKinnon is on pace for his second 50-goal season. Should he top that total, it would mark yet another significant milestone in Avalanche team history.
