The Colorado Avalanche continue their West Coast road trip as they step into the Climate Pledge Arena to take on the Seattle Kraken.

The Avalanche are looking to continue building momentum after winning two in a row. The club’s last win, a 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night, marked the team’s second win of the season.

Meanwhile, the Kraken are 4-2 and sit third in the Pacific Division. The Kraken have had a solid start and will be looking to add to their current three-game winning streak.

So, let’s take a look at three thoughts ahead of Tuesday night’s clash between the Colorado Avalanche and Seattle Kraken

3 thoughts ahead of the Colorado Avalanche’s matchup against the Seattle Kraken

No major lineup changes expected

No major changes are expected to the Colorado Avalanche’s lineup. In a sense, coach Jared Bednar is thinking, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The current lineup, despite injuries, has won back-to-back games and gaining momentum.

So, it’s likely no major changes will take place until injured players such as Jonathan Drouin and Devon Toews return. In the meantime, a player to watch is John Ludvig. He’s played very well since getting into the lineup. Toews’ eventual return could push one of Calvin de Haan or Sam Malinski to the press box if Ludvig continues to play well.

Avalanche injury update

Speaking of injuries, Devon Toews continues to nurse an undisclosed lower-body injury. He traveled with the team on their current road trip but has yet to hit the ice. Toews was placed on IR but is still considered day-to-day. There is no clear timeline for his return though there’s an outside chance he could slide into the lineup against the Kraken. Toews has played two games this season, registering a single point.

As for Jonathan Drouin, he is still out with no timeline for his return. It seems Drouin will be out for at least the rest of the month. Like Artturi Lehkonen, further evaluation is expected before making a decision on a potential return date.

Georgiev should be back in the crease

Alexandar Georgiev should be back in the crease for the Avalanche on Tuesday night. Justus Annunen got the call for the Avs’ last game, showing his best performance of the season. While Bednar could stick with the hot hand, it’s likely he goes back to the team’s default starter for this matchup.
