Colorado Avalanche Head Coach Jared Bednar's job is as secure as it has ever been

The Colorado Avalanche have found a winning formula and must keep it intact for any chance of lifting the Stanley Cup again. It all starts at the top, with head coach Jared Bednar. Should he be worried that if he cannot win it all this season, it will be curtains on his time in Denver?

Contrary to popular belief, the Colorado Avalanche are getting stronger with each passing season. Their core is now hitting their prime, and the time for winning it all is now. Some believe that Head Coach Jared Bednar is on the hot seat, and if he can't find more success this season, he may be on his way out of Colorado.

But, in my opinion, I believe that Bednar's job security has never been higher, and he will be at the helm through the rest of his current contract, set to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season, and the next. He is the right man for the job, and here is why.

Just Win Baby

Since Bednar has taken over the Avs for the 2016-17 season, which was an abysmal 22-56-4, he has strung together a lot of successful years. He took them out of the rebuild, and straight into being an annual contender and powerhouse. And even still, as back-to-back seasons end disappointingly since their Stanley Cup victory in 2022-23, they are among the favorites to win it all.

That to me does not sound like a coach that should be worrying if his name will be added to the waiver wire at the end of this upcoming season. Bednar should be solely focused on what he has done best over the past eight years, which is winning hockey games.

Since 2016-17, he has amassed a record of 341-217-60. That's an average of nearly 43 wins a year, which would have gotten him in the wildcard or even the third spot in the Metropolitan Division ahead of the New York Islanders last season.

Bednar has brought success to the Avs for an extended period and with the team being even stronger than before, it seems that the trend will continue beyond next season. There should be no doubt that he will remain at the helm, even if this season is a dud.
