An advert for 2026 Team Canada Olympic merch leaked the identity of one Colorado Avalanche player.
Fanatics Canada surprised NHL fans by making numerous Team Canada-related items available on Monday, bearing the names of various players. Among them, Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon had various items displaying his #29 and name.
For instance, framed jersey prints showing the back of MacKinnon’s Team Canada jersey for the upcoming Milano-Cortina games. While the ad intends to give fans a head start on getting their gear ready for the highly anticipated tourney, the names on various items unofficially confirm some of the players that made the Team Canada roster.
Among the names seen on the site include Connor McDavid, Brad Marchand, Sam Reinhart, and Sidney Crosby. While none of the aforementioned names are a major surprise, the inclusion of Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki is a bit of a surprise. Suzuki was not on Team Canada’s roster for the 4 Nations Face-Off last year.
One Colorado Avalanche player conspicuously absent from the unofficial "reveal" for Team Canada
While MacKinnon’s name on Team Canada’s roster is a no-brainer, it was surprising to see Cale Makar’s name missing from the recently revealed merch.
Makar was one of the six players named to Team Canada’s roster back in June. While he’s likely a lock for the team, it may only be a matter of time before merchandise with his name becomes available.
Final 2026 Olympic rosters are due on December 31. Given the anticipation for Canada’s roster, Team Canada will make an official announcement on that day. The United States and other nations will announce their official rosters on January 2.
So, it will be an interesting week to learn which members of the Colorado Avalanche will represent their teams at the 2026 Olympics in Milano-Cortina.
