As Cale Makar continues his illustrious career for the Colorado Avalanche, the defenseman reached a huge milestone against the Stars on Saturday.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it over and over again. Colorado Avalanche star defenseman Cale Makar is just—not human. Well, that is what they typically say when presented with a superstar player. That’s exactly who we have on that top defensive pairing. Makar continued to show his dominance Saturday.

in a 6-3 win, basically a dominant win, Makar was one of two players (Arturri Lehkonen) to score two of the team’s six goals on the night. It also marked Makar’s 100th and 101th career goals. If you’re interested in the math, that’s 16.8 goals per season for the 2022 Conn Smythe-winner. It’s just such a treat to be able to witness the greatness Makar brings onto the ice.

Makar was the fastest active player to reach 100 career goals, too. That’s epic, but not shocking.

His two goals on Saturday ended his seven-game skid of not scoring a single goal, which is definitely un-Makar-like. Colorado went 3-4 during that span. It’s crucial that Makar scores for this team. It’s crucial that any of the stars on the Avalanche score. There’s a good chance of coming out with a win when that happens.

I’m sure the Avalanche players are glad they got to face the Stars’ backup in Casey DeSmith instead of Jake Oettinger. I could see this game being a lot closer if that was the case, but as they say, you play who you play. The goal is the exact same every single night.

With 35 more games left on the Avalanche’s schedule, Makar has a chance to enter the race for the Norris trophy. I’ve seen many people state that Makar is not currently a candidate for that trophy as it stands right now, but if he can put on a scoring fest going forward, there’s no reason why he can’t also be in the conversation. The goal is to make it to the playoffs and win the Stanley Cup, and Makar’s contribution to those goals needs to be huge.

Makar also missed some time during the game after he was hit by a shot—on the inside of one of his feet. I could feel that pain all the way from Canada.
