The Colorado Avalanche and every other team is going to wear a newly designed uniform at some point(s) during the 2026-27 season. It appeared that teams across the NHL agreed to reveal a clue towards the direction they were heading regarding the designs.
The Avalanche’s social media team put out an Instagram post with a word scramble revealing the letters of the hint. If you’re like me, you’d appreciate that sort of fun activity—trying to solve the word scramble.
At the top of the post, it has ‘Hometown Remix’ which is the theme name the league is going with this season. The scrambled up words read “UFLLY RFSOETD.”
Now, it would have been sort of tough if there was a three-word clue, but this one, I got pretty quickly. It’s “Fully Frosted.”
So, what could this mean?
The Avalanche might’ve been able to use a clue such as, “they’re great,” which is the catchphrase for Tony the Tiger, the mascot of Frosted Flakes. I like the creativity the choses instead, though.
My guess for the stylistic design of the Avalanche’s Hometown Remix is that the theme will predominantly white with some of the team’s traditional colors, burgundy and blue.
Colorado has several options they can choose from in regards to the logo they use. Last season, in their throwback uniform reveal, they decided to bring back the Quebec Nordiques style. Since that has been done now, I hope that they go a different direction.
What we haven’t seen in a while is the Yeti foot, worn by the team from their inaugural season through the 2014-15 season. From what I have gathered when looking at different areas of social media, Avalanche fans can (mostly) agree on one thing: Bring the yeti foot back. It’s the uniform that Avalanche fans associate with the likes of Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Patrick Roy, and many more legends.
I think it would be very cool if the Avs created a yeti foot logo with a mountain in the background. The foot would be the burgundy theme color, while the mountain would fittingly be blue, with ice caps on the top.
What I do not want to see is the Avalanche lay an egg in games in which they wear their Hometown Remix uniforms, especially if it dons the iconic yeti foot. If you believe in those types of superstitions, you know what I’m talking about. The Avs were atrocious wearing their Nordiques throwbacks last season, finishing the throwback-wearing series with a losing record.
