Michael Vasilie

Mike hails from the small town of Soldotna, Alaska. It's a sleepy, little community in the South-Central region of the state with few claims to fame, other than the world-class salmon fishing. Mike grew up in a hockey household. Mike became an Avs fan following the Nordiques (whose "Honolulu Blue" sweaters with the crazy "N thing" on the front caught the eyes of the young Vasilie brothers) to Denver. With amazing players like Sakic, Forsberg, and the rest of the crew, Mike's fandom was made perfect by the addition of the great Patrick Roy, who promptly backstopped the Avs' to a Cup in '96. Mike hasn't looked back since and he is thrilled to offer his insight into all things "Avs."Having lived in the western suburbs of the Chicagoland area for the last few years, Mike has been deeply steeped in the analytics revolution in the NHL. He's also had to defend his fandom from Blackhawks fans, who've had the luxury of pointing to three Stanley Cup parades in the last seven years. Mike hopes to bring his knack for numbers and his passion for the game of hockey to the table for your reading pleasure.
