The Colorado Avalanche were socially busy last week. Here are the highlights from their screen time.

The Colorado Avalanche are well into their second month in isolation. However, some of the players are still reaching out to the fans and the community.

First, some goalie talk. As we reported yesterday, the Avalanche have a new goalie in their stable. They signed prospect Justus Annunen to an entry-level deal. He’s expected to join the Eagles next season, whenever that happens.

I like the goalie signing. Annunen has been playing very well in Finland. And, as we saw at the beginning of the year when Philipp Grubauer was injured and Pavel Francouz went down with a concussion in the first minute of the game — goalie depth is essential.

Meanwhile, Cale Makar had a busy day. He spoke first on a four-way conference call that the NHL set up. He then joined Sports Social to share his thoughts on the team this season. Like Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon, he believes this team could go the distance and win the Stanley Cup.

Last week was a good one for hearing from Avs players. Alternate captain Erik Johnson also called in to Sports Social. He talked a lot about horses, but he also told us a little bit about life in quarantine.

The highlight of the week was Tyson Jost‘s joining Kyle Keefe for Happy Hour on Instagram Live. This particular happy hour blew Nikita Zadorov‘s out of the water — and that was a stellar one to begin with.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the memes on social media about taking pity on your extrovert friends. Well, Jost seems to be the quintessential extrovert, and he seems delighted to want to share some thoughts with the world through Kyle Keefe. Indeed, we even got to see him play the ukulele.

I’ll be dissecting the full video at a later date with cross-references to his previous interviews.

Here’s the whole video of Avs Coffee Break:

Meanwhile, our captain is continuing to fundraise for COVID-19 relief.

Concerning news for the whole NHL, commissioner Gary Bettman has opened up the possibility of a November or December start for the 2020-21 season. I think it’s pretty likely that, regardless of what happens with the remainder of this season, next season’s start will be delayed. The NHL wants fans in seats in at least some capacity. That’s not going to happen by October.

Well, Colorado Avalanche fans, hopefully this week is as eventful as last week. Indeed, we’ve already got a video of some former player to dissect soon. Stay tuned!
