The Colorado Avalanche have finally broken their five game losing streak. We look back at some of the team’s best social media posts of the past week.
The Colorado Avalanche got in a quick practice before hitting the road to play in Dallas. J.T. Compher has now joined the list of players who pretend they don’t want to have their photograph taken for social media. Erik Johnson, who started all this, is clearly a bad influence.
When JT says no photos so all you want to do is take JT photos...

I’m impressed by Nazem Kadri‘s ability to look like a fashion model whenever he’s photographed getting off a plane. Not even Nikita Zadorov‘s blue jacket can outshine him.

Andre Burakovsky is wearing his very fetching burgundy suit, and a hat that in no way makes him look like a gnome.

Erik Johnson looking like a casual rockstar.
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare has really settled in with the Avalanche. Not only is he great with the fans, but he has his own special warmup routine which is always fun to watch.
Bellemare: engaging with fans + bothering his teammates (in the best way!) for 400 games.#GoAvsGo https://t.co/a9JqbOLy1Y

The game in Dallas was controversial, with a coach’s challenge regarding a goal being scored with a broken stick being overruled and the Avalanche being awarded a penalty as a result. Naturally the social media team had a thing or two to say about this in their own delightful way.
Might make a burner account over this broken stick...#JustKidding #Kinda #Maybe

Sadly the Avs left Dallas with another loss under their belt, but the media team tried to focus on the positive.

It can’t be easy running a team social media account, especially when the team is doing badly. Fans want to air their frustration, and the team account is an easy target. People forget that the social media team have nothing to do with how the team performs, or decisions the coach makes. They’re here to tell us what’s going on, and provide fun content for us to engage with. Dealing with abuse should not be part of the job.
We’re just a Twitter account, posting content in front of our followers...

Asking you guys to (still) love us.
(Or, tbh, just not be too mean??) #GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/1INijPaCJU
I don’t know what it is about the lighting in the locker room that makes the players look especially good but the photos are always amazing. Please just take a moment to enjoy Ryan Graves‘ cheekbones.
Let’s get after it tomorrow.#GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/oE7KIktnLD

This week was the annual Mile High Dreams Gala and, as always, one of the Avalanche players was chosen to conduct interviews with the team during the event. This year the honor fell to Andre Burakovsky and I, for one, can’t wait to see the final footage.

And Burky is our Reporter this year!

Burakovsky’s gnome hat made another appearance ahead of the home game against Nashville. Well, we’re moving into winter and it’s starting to get colder.

With Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen now both out with injuries, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Cale Makar have stepped into their places for the post-game handshake. Makar clearly sees the sort of thing that being a good leader involves and it won’t surprise me if he ends up with a letter on his jersey at some point in the future.

On Friday the Avalanche announced they were headed back to Europe in 2020 for the NHL Global Series. The Avalanche will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets for two games in Helsinki, Finland. The team first took part in the series back in 2017 where they played two games in Stockholm, Sweden.

Although he’s out with a lower body injury, Philipp Grubauer took time to be photographed for the Avalanche Pet Calendar.

One of my favorite events that the Avalanche do is visiting schools to talk about STEM and how it can be applied to sports.

After teasing the footage of Grubauer for the pet calendar, we were treated to several other players being photographed and filmed for the calendar the following day.

Pierre-Edouard Bellemare’s warmup routine seems to be getting more elaborate as time progresses. He’s now involving Ryan Graves in his routine as well.
Have we mentioned that we love Belly? Oh, we have?

Well, we’ll say it again: we love Belly.#GoAvsGo https://t.co/yyZJst558R
Cale Makar had quite the night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, scoring two goals. The media team, of course, celebrated with gifs from his NHL Media Day smoothie making feature, Cale’s Corner.

The Colorado Avalanche now have a lengthy 5 game road trip ahead of them. We’ll be back next week with more social media highlights.
