The Inspirational Patrick Roy
Awhile back someone asked Colorado Avalanche fans to name their current favorite and all-time favorite players. My two answers should come as no surprise if you’ve read any other post — EJ is my current favorite. Patrick Roy is my all-time favorite.
It should also come as no surprise that he’s my favorite coach of all time either. I like to say that, when it comes to the Cult of Patrick Roy, I not only drink the Kool-Aid, I mix it up and serve it to the masses.
ICYMI: The Cult of Roy
Patrick Roy’s gift to the team is his passion. He was renowned for being a passionate player — a real difference maker. I’m confident he’s that kind of coach as well. When he speaks, he has a lot of quirks — like the refusal to use plurals and a habit of translating n’est pas. (“You like that, isn’t it?”) However, he is also one motivational speaker — the kind of man who could sent the troops off to war.
He does that every night when he sends the Colorado Avalanche out to play NHL hockey.
What about you, Avs Nation? What do you consider the Colorado Avalanche’s greatest gifts during this Christmas season?
