Blues captain David Backes and Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson have known each other a long time. Backes was already an established member of the Blues when Johnson joined the team as a first-overall draft pick. EJ is even part of Backes’ charity, Athlete for Animals.

Though this isn’t a New Year’s Eve game, you still get the feeling Backes is channeling his Irish spirit and singing about “auld lang syne.”
