2.) Coors Field, Denver, CO

Obviously there had to be a homer pick here! Hear me out though, there’s plenty more to this selection than just being an Avalanche-focused site. Coors Field has a lot to offer the NHL.

It has been a while since Coors Field was a site for the NHL Stadium Series—eight years to be exact. The Detroit Red Wings came to Coors Field in February of 2016 and defeated the Avalanche 5-3. That game drew over 50,000 fans to Coors Field, a significant number.

Fast forward to today’s Avalanche, and there are plenty of stars that the NHL should want to showcase to a national audience. Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Mikko Rantanen are a few that come to mind, and placing the Avalanche into another outdoor game would be a wise decision for the NHL to market their top tier talent.

Coors Field is a premier location in the Midwest for the NHL to showcase. As most of the colder weather climates with NHL teams are on the east coast, they get a lot of these games. The most recent game west of the Mississippi was played at the United States Air Force Academy. This also featured the Avalanche. Coors Field is a fine stadium with a nice backdrop of downtown Denver and is one of the premier stadiums that the NHL could platform for television in the mountain time zone.

The NHL stadium series usually comes up with unique jerseys as well. As the Colorado Rockies, the usual tenant to occupy Coors Field, wear black, purple and white, there may be an opportunity there for the NHL to sell merchandise too with a collaboration between the Rocky Mountain teams.
