As the race for the Hart Trophy continues, Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon is among the candidates to receive that award. MacKinnon is two points behind from leading the league And could finish on top.

Personally, I think that MacKinnon deserves the Hart trophy because of the simple fact that he could have gotten more goals in several games, including in Tuesday night's, but opted not to. Or so it seemed. That game was already out of hand for the Minnesota Wild. It just seemed like MacKinnon, while he would love the award, didn't want to run the score up or anything of that nature.

He did what he went out there to do against the Wild. I think that MacKinnon's teammates really want him to surpass all expectations as he continues to help the Colorado Avalanche win. MacKinnon has nine game-winning goals this season, which is very respectable. In tough times during the season, MacKinnon stepped up on multiple occasions. The Avalanche secured a playoff spot recently and MacKinnon was huge in that quest of doing so.

I think there is a chance of some sort of bias regarding the Hart, but at the same time, there might not be. MacKinnon has been noticed by literally everybody across the NHL and the entire world. I'm not saying that a guy such as Connor McDavid shouldn't win the award. I think that people should really check out MacKinnon's game on Tuesday. I couldn't believe his burst the entire game, particularly on the rushes. I literally said "man, this guy is on a mission!" The Hart Trophy should mean something to all candidates. Despite the main goal being to help the team win and win the Stanley Cup, the Hart trophy is a nice bonus.

MacKinnon is having the best season of his NHL career, and it is not even close. Do the right thing, voters. Give Nathan MacKinnon the Hart.
