The Colorado Avalanche have a chance to send multiple players to the 2024 All-Star game on February 3rd. We already know that Nathan MacKinnon has made the team, and rightfully so. The combination of him leading the NHL in points to this point and the hot streak he is on right now, it would not have made sense to keep him off that roster.

To vote on the 2024 NHL All-star roster, you can head over to allstarfanvote.nhl.com.

Mikko Rantanen is tied for seventh in the NHL in terms of goals with 20 on the season. He has 28 total points.

In terms of a defensive player who should easily make the roster is Cale Makar, who is known for being the greatest defenseman in the NHL for a number of years already and he’s still only in his mid-20s. He has 45 points (8 goals, 37 assists) on the season. Makar averages 24:30 minutes of ice time per game. His absence from the ice is noticeable as evidenced by some of the games he missed this season.

It will certainly be interesting to see who ends up getting send to the All-Star game. Will it be Cale Makar or will it be Quinn Hughes, another top-tier defenseman? If Makar is sent, it will mark yet another pretty big accomplishment in his young career. Makar has already achieved so much in his time with the Colorado Avalanche. It would be a surprised if he gets beat by another player even if that other player is deserving of the honour. I’m not trying to take anything away from a guy like Quinn Hughes, I’m just thankful the Colorado Avalanche have a guy such as Makar on their team.

Valeri Nichushkin should also get a fair number of votes from fans. He has 19 goals and 19 assists in 37 games and has certainly been Mr. Consistent.
