The Colorado Avalanche announced a series of roster moves ahead of their last preseason game against the Dallas Stars on Saturday night.
The Avs recalled eight players from the Colorado Eagles: T.J. Tynan, Taylor Makar, Alex Gagne, Sean Behrens, Chase Bradley, Maros Jedlicka, Jayson Megna, and Tristen Nielsen.
The Avalanche had cut the aforementioned players earlier in training camp. They reported to the Eagles and will likely do so once Saturday night’s game is over.

The recalled players got into the lineup against the Stars, a strategic move designed to give regulars some more time off ahead of the start of the regular season on October 7.
One of the biggest concerns about dressing roster regulars during preseason games is the risk of injury. For instance, shutdown blueliner Samuel Girard remains on the shelf. He’s unlikely to be ready for the season opener.
Still, there’s hope that Girard won’t be out for much longer.
Wedgewood, Miner share the net in Blackwood’s absence
Another notable absence is starting goalie MacKenzie Blackwood. Blackwood has not seen any preseason action despite being present during training camp drills.
As such, backup Scott Wedgewood and third-stringer Trent Miner shared the net in the final preseason matchup against the Dallas Stars.
If Blackwood can’t go, it’ll likely be Wedgewood getting the nod on Opening Night with Miner as his backup. At this point, it remains unclear when Blackwood could be back in the crease.
Blackwood sustained a suspected lower-body injury in early September. In the meantime, Wedgewood will be asked to hold the fort. He’s been a reliable goalie throughout his NHL career. While he may not be able to start 40 games, he could certainly fill in while Blackwood is on the mend.
As for Miner, he’ll be tested early. He could see action within the first week of the season or so. The Avalanche have four games in eight days to open the season. So, it’s likely Miner could get into the mix if Blackwood remains unavailable.
