Colorado Avalanche get an encouraging victory over Panthers
The Colorado Avalanche pulled off a 7-4 victory over the Stanley Cup Panthers on Saturday. It was an encouraging win of sorts against the reigning Stanley Cup Champions.
At times, it was gorgeous. At times, it was beautiful. At times, it was a tad bit ugly. I, of course, am referring to the victory the Colorado Avalanche pulled off on Saturday evening against the Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers.
The Avalanche gave up the first goal of the game just 52 seconds into the game, as is fairly common for goaltender Alexandar Georgiev. That was a point where I’m sure many fans whispered under their breath, “Here we go again.” The Avalanche gave up a second goal and the period ended 2-1 Panthers.
The second period is where the Avalanche picked up the pace, recording four goals to Florida’s one, and the game stood at 5-3 after two periods. At that point, I felt pretty confident the Avs were going to pull off the victory. Add two more goals for the Avalanche and one more for the Panthers, and it ends 7-4 for the good guys.
Finally, fans could exhale. I know I was holding my breath despite having confidence in the team. All in all, it was actually an exciting game that saw no penalties for quite some time. However, Ivan Ivan had one which resulted in a Sam Reinhart power play goal. Miles Wood ended up dropping his gloves to fight Matthew Tkachuk, and it resulted in a 4-on-4, as both players headed to the box.
Colorado Avalanche victory over Florida Panthers is a confidence booster
Dare I say the Colorado Avalanche are back? Although it wasn’t pretty at times, it’s a real confidence booster to put up seven goals against a future Hall of Fame goalie in Sergei Bobrovsky. The Panthers have now lost three in a row, including 3-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks.
If the Avalanche keep playing like this, despite some disappointing goals allowed, we can officially say they are back. Despite the team’s last two games, which both ended up in victories by one goal, the Avs put a stamp on their “We’re Back” billboards.
The Boys Are Back and they’re looking for glory.
The Avalanche are back on the ice on Monday in Tampa Bay to face off against the Lightning again.
