The Colorado Avalanche will get to try and take revenge on the Vegas Golden Knights in January, February.

The Colorado Avalanche had their 2026-27 schedule released on Thursday along with every other team in the NHL. There are some notable dates to take into consideration, including the two times the Avs will take on the team that eliminated them from postseason contention.

Colorado will face the Vegas Golden Knights three times this season. The first game will be on January 2 in Vegas, while the second game will be on January 4 in Denver, Colorado. The two teams face each other a third time in February—the 22nd, to be exact. That game will take place in Colorado.

A new season, two new teams. While the two rosters are going to be largely the same, there are questions. How will Colorado do without Valeri Nichushkin? Can Jaden Schwartz make a big enough difference for Colorado?

In the postseason, Carter Hart played extremely well for Vegas. The Avalanche will be hoping that he (or even Adin Hill) will be off of his game during those stretches of the season. Of course, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not that will happen, but Colorado has to prepare as if every single player on every single team will bring their absolute best against them. To think otherwise would be foolish.

By the time the regular season series vs Vegas comes around, both teams will have played enough games to either gain momentum or burn out a little bit too much. I’m betting on the former for the Avalanche, as should everyone. While they would say that it’s a new season and it only matters what’s in front of them, as true as that is, last season’s postseason disappointment will be on their minds, even if just at the back.

Vegas is coming off of a disappointing finish in the Stanley Cup Final, while Colorado was eliminated in the Western Conference Final. Both teams will be hungry. It will be the battle of green chili (Colorado) vs tacos (or any other of the various popular foods in Vegas). Who will come out on top?

Regardless of the result, each one of those games should be thrilling.
