Avalanche have 3 names to Watch at 2026 Rookie Camp

The Colorado Avalanche announced their Rookie Camp roster, with three interesting names standing out among the bunch.

One of the most interesting parts of this fall’s training camp will be the Rookie Camp. For Colorado Avalanche fans, it will be a unique opportunity to see what the organizational prospect pipeline has to offer.

And by looking at the names on the list, there could be three very interesting standouts.

The organization announced the roster on Friday, with some familiar names making the list. But it might just be a couple of the not-so-familiar names who could make an impression on the ice.

Tobias Tvrznik

The Avalanche don’t exactly have the most exciting goalie prospect pipeline in the NHL. They do have a solid potential number-one guy in Ilya Nabokov. Beyond him, there isn’t a name that stands out.

But there might just be.

Colorado selected the 19-year-old Tvrznik in the fourth round of this year’s draft. He’s 6’4” and could blossom into a solid NHL netminder.

Last season, the Czech goalie played 39 games in the WHL. While his numbers weren’t overly impressive, he’ll get a chance to show what he can do at Ohio State this season.

If he can have a good camp, Avalanche fans could be looking at a potential candidate for one of the team’s goaltending spots down the road.

Beckett Hamilton

Beckett Hamilton is another selection from the 2026 NHL Draft. He was a third-rounder, going 74th overall. While he won’t be close to factoring into the Avalanche’s lineup anytime soon, he’ll be a guy to watch.

The Avalanche see a lot of potential in Hamilton despite being relatively undersized. He’s 5’11” and 170 pounds. But he’s the sort of hardworking forward coaches love to throw over the boards. He spent last season in the WHL and could return for one more season as an overager.

Otherwise, the 18-year-old could push to grab a spot on the Colorado Eagles.

Gustav Stjernberg

If there’s one rookie who could surprise everyone, it’s Gustav Stjernberg. The Avalanche signed the 23-year-old as a college free agent this past spring. And he hit the ground running with the Eagles, scoring a goal and three points in 11 games.

He’s got a two-year entry-level deal at this point, and could be in the mix to surprise some people at camp. The 6’4”, 209-pound blueliner has the size to make an immediate impact at the NHL level. While he won’t likely make the team, he could be among the first call-ups this season.

However, should injuries befall someone before the start of the season, Stjernberg could see his name penciled into the Opening Night roster.

Keep an eye on this guy. He has the makings of one of those under-the-radar prospects who could knock everyone’s socks off.
