The Colorado Avalanche not only claimed a spot in the playoffs, but they are officially your 2022-23 central division winners. It has been a rocky road for the Avalanche this season with all of the injuries and the fact that they were without Gabriel Landeskog—the captain—for the entire season and will be for the playoffs, too. That being said, it’s amazing that they were able to overcome these struggles and not just sneak into the playoffs but be atop the division.

We were able to witness greatness for a good amount of the season. Although there were some stretches in which the Avs did poorly, none of that matters at this point. What matters is the next game. The team gets at least four playoff games this year. If they are able to make it out of the first round without many issues, it could be safe to say that that they could repeat as Stanley Cup champions.

Let’s take a look at the schedule for the first opponent the Avalanche will face in the 2022-2023 Stanley Cup playoffs:

Seattle Kraken @ Colorado Avalanche, Tuesday, April 18th at 10pm ET/8pm MT
Seattle Kraken @ Colorado Avalanche, Thursday, April 20th at 9:30pm ET/7:30pm MT
Colorado Avalanche @ Seattle Kraken, Saturday, April 22nd at 10pm ET/8pm MT
Colorado Avalanche @ Seattle Kraken, Monday, April 24th at 10pm ET/8pm MT
Seattle Kraken @ Colorado Avalanche, Wednesday, April 26th (if necessary); time TBD
Colorado Avalanche @ Seattle Kraken, Friday, April 28th (if necessary); time TBD
Seattle Kraken @ Colorado Avalanche, Sunday, April 30th (if necessary); time TBD.

The Kraken finished fourth in the Pacific division, winning 46 games and recording 100 points. They scored 289 goals and gave up 256. Seattle finished 6-4 in their last ten games this regular season but dropping their final two.

Although Landeskog won’t be participating, the Colorado Avalanche are back. It’s yet again an exciting time for Avs fans as they try to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions. With Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar, you can never count this team out.
