Alex Galchenyuk, Jean-Luc Foudy sign with Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche have brought back forward Alex Galchenyuk to the roster. The deal is for the remainder of the season and will pay Galchenyuk the league minimum of $750k.
The Avalanche have been snake bitten by injuries this season and the recent injury to Evan Rodrigues could be reason for the team bringing Galchenyuk back. Galchenyuk was cut earlier this season because he suffered an injury. However, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said that the team was going to revisit his situation with the team once he was healthy and good to go.
Throughout his NHL career, Galchenyuk has played in 643 games. He has scored 146 goals and 208 assists during that period of time with the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
His best season was in 2015-2016 when he recorded 30 goals and 26 assists in all 82 games that season.
The re-signing of Galchenyuk should help the team keep up with its winning ways and trying to keep up with the rash of injuries it has had this season—especially the injury to Evan Rodrigues, who is out 2-4 weeks. The team also lost Valeri Nichushkin for a month, two weeks ago.
Jean-Luc Foudy was a 2020 third-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche. He has never appeared in an NHL game yet, although he has spent time with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL and Colorado Eagles of the AHL.
Throughout his time in those other leagues, Foudy has played in 239 games and scored 40 goals with 106 assists.
The Avalanche head to Winnipeg to face the Jets on Tuesday. Winnipeg are in second place of the Western Conference Central Division, with Colorado in third place. A win against the Jets would put the team in a really good position.
The Jets have allowed the second-fewest number of goals in the division this season, so hopefully these two players can help make an impact against Winnipeg, who have scored 12 goals in the last two games while surrendering just six.
