The Colorado Avalanche and their fans are eager for the season to begin after they won the Stanley Cup this past year. It’s been quite the offseason. We’ve seen several key players leave in free agency, but we have been able to retain and acquire others.
Out went Nazem Kadri, in comes Evan Rodrigues.
The Stanley Cup has made the rounds across the globe since initially being awarded to the Avalanche in late-June.
Entering the 2022-23 season, the Avalanche will have a target on their back as the reigning Cup champions. They’re in position to repeat as of right now and until a new team wins it all, it will stay that way.
The Colorado Avalanche begin preseason on Sept. 25 vs the Minnesota Wild…
The Avalanche will begin the preseason against their division rival Minnesota Wild, who finished second in the West with 53 wins to Colorado’s 56.
That right there is proof that it could be a difficult matchup right off the bat. Minnesota got off to a blazing hot start last season, winning their first four games, and nine of their first 12.
Minnesota lost their playoff series to the St. Louis Blues in the sixth matchup.
The Avalanche have an all-time record of 57-46-3-1 against the Minnesota Wild. The two teams split victories last season 2-2.
The Colorado Avalanche will host the Chicago Blackhawks in their opener…
On Wednesday, October 12, the Colorado Avalanche host the Chicago Blackhawks at 7:30pm Mountain time to begin their season.
The Blackhawks were the second-worst team in the Western division and the third-worst in the Western conference with a record of just 28-42-12.
Three players to watch on the Blackhawks in the opener are Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Seth Jones.
Kane is listed, although there is a possibility that he won’t even be on the Blackhawks come Game 1 of the regular season. There have been trade rumours surrounding Kane, with the Avalanche as one of those possible destinations.
The game against the Blackhawks will also be Alexandar Georgiev’s regular season debut with the Avalanche.
