What can Colorado Avalanche fans do to keep busy until training camp gets underway?

There is just under a month and a half before the Colorado Avalanche get back onto the ice for their first training camp practice, which is scheduled for September 12th and 9 AM local time. The team is still celebrating their Stanley Cup victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

One thing that I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing on social media is images of the team’s players taking the Stanley Cup to their hometown to celebrate with their fans. We got to see that during their official Stanley Cup parade, but that was “just” a Colorado event.

The Stanley Cup is making the rounds across the world.

Something that I have learned in my years covering sports is that family and team bonding is crucial. It’s something that has to be done in a team sport and as a fan, it has the ability to bring family together.

While we wait for a number of Avalanche related things to take place over the next few weeks and months, what are some fun ideas for Colorado Avalanche fans to do?

1. Do a Colorado Avalanche jigsaw puzzle with family…

If jigsaw puzzles are your thing, you can definitely Google “Colorado Avalanche jigsaw puzzles” and should easily find one. For instance, I just did that and was able to find several that look like a lot of fun to do.

They definitely are something that would appeal to me because I just love looking at the team’s color scheme, and trying to find the right pieces is just a blast.

Doing puzzles also has the potential to heighten cognitive skills, which is something that’s really important for anyone!

When it comes to puzzles, they have a certain age requirement in order to take part in building it.

2. Watch some Colorado Avalanche highlights from the past…

Although the Avalanche haven’t been around as long as the original six (Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs), there is still a rich history with the team.

Thankfully, Avalanche fans have been able to witness greatness three times in the team’s existence. Even when the Avalanche don’t win the Stanley Cup, it’s still fun to go back and watch some of the great players this team has had the pleasure of having.

When I first started watching hockey, I got to witness great players in Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Adam Foote, Patrick Roy, Rob Blake, Teemu Selänne and more.

If you are a young Colorado Avalanche fan who never got to see those players I just listed, it’s a great thing that YouTube is a thing these days.

You can also find out how different the game of hockey was back in those days. It’s truly remarkable the difference between then and now.

I know one day this activity will include watching highlights of Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, specifically from this season. The greatness of hockey never stops.

3. Follow along to find out where the Colorado Avalanche’s Stanley Cup Trophy is at…

Is the Stanley Cup in Colorado? How about Newfoundland, Canada? Sweden?

The Avalanche social media team is doing a stellar job of making sure fans all across the world know where their trophy is. Three days ago, the team posted a teaser.

You might not find out ahead of time by checking out the Avalanche’s social media, but if you follow some reporters that cover the team, there’s a chance you will find out the info you’re looking for with time to spare.

If you’re familiar with certain artifacts in the world, this game could be easy for you. Any guesses from the images above?

Your captain of the Colorado Avalanche, Gabriel Landeskog, has brought the Stanley Cup to his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden.

If you didn’t get to witness the Avalanche’s parade, you might be in luck if a player from the team is from your hometown. For me, it will be Darren Helm who I am focusing on, as he is from my neck of the woods.
