The 2022 NHL Draft is this week. The Colorado Avalanche do not have a first nor second round pick this year, but here is the information you need for the event.

The 2022 NHL Draft will take place over the course of two days. The Colorado Avalanche can sit back and watch as some highly-touted prospects find out where they could be starting their NHL career.

The Avalanche just won the Stanley Cup, so it makes sense that they aren’t in desperate need for instant impact players. Then again, rarely does an NHL team even get that.

That’s not to say that any of the players the Avalanche draft will never make an impact for them. They sure could, depending on a multitude of things. Will the Avalanche be able to re-sign all of their upcoming free agents? If not all, which ones are most likely and the most ideal to re-sign?

The Avalanche have the following selections in the 2022 NHL Draft:

Round 3: No 32  (97th overall)
Round 5: No. 32 (161st overall)
Round 6: No. 32  (193rd overall)
Round 7: No. 32 (225th overall)

It is possible they can find some gems late in the draft, and it would be smart if they could find some young defensemen for when the older players are no longer with the team. Erik Johnson is 34-years old and is currently scheduled to hit free agency next offseason.
