The Colorado Avalanche are set to host the LA Kings tomorrow at the Air Force Academy for their second Stadium Series game.

The Colorado Avalanche’s Stadium Series game is this Saturday, and they’re getting the hype train going.

Today the players visited Falcon Stadium where the ice rink was built and ready to go.

They toured the locker rooms where stalls built to accommodate big football players and all their equipment couldn’t accommodate hockey gear. Each player had two stalls and a chair in front to sit on. Their skates were propped up against the chair.

Unfortunately, all the pictures are on Instagram stories. More on that later. However, you can get a feel for it here:

The players made their grand entrances in their complete Stadium Series uniforms to the ice.

This marks the first time we got to see the Stadium Series uniforms in their entirety. What do you think of them? Personally, I like them from behind. I think they look terribly blocky from the front.

I will say this: The blockiness makes them easy to spy from the nosebleeds — or, in this case, the press box:

Up close, though, I’m just not a fan:

I am a fan of the eye black, though. It was a sunny day today, and it looks like the players needed it.

Shades obviously work, too.

Anyway, the players did some PR for the Stadium Series, but once they got to practice, they put on their practice jerseys — still Stadium Series style:

A lot of fans think the practice jerseys look better than the Stadium Series jerseys. I would agree. However, some fans would like to see the original Avs logo replaced with this one. Hard no. I like the original, but I’d be ok with changing it to the logo on the current thirds.

You might be noticing something. Look at the helmets.

The A graphic is only on the left side of the helmet. The player’s number is on the right.

Not a fan.

Anyway, here the players are in action:

And some more:

In this picture, the ice is starting to look a little soft. However, the players said it was pretty good. As I said, it was a sunny day today.

After the practice, the players got to skate on the ice with their families:

I think the players and their families absolutely love this part of the festivities.

So, before they ever took to the ice, the players got outside and had some fun on the environs:

Now, before they even got to this phase, the players took a tour of the locker room. Most of them showed their tour on Instagram. It was watching these Insta videos that allowed me to see how hockey players get two whole stalls to themselves.

I was so focused on trying to get a view of how the lockers were set up that I failed to notice two players unintentionally caught something else entirely on their Insta stories.

Gabriel Landeskog and Erik Johnson caught J.T. Compher gearing down. They caught him in a rather delicate moment — let’s just say he was getting ready to put on a pair of sweat pants.

Poor Compher. If only he’d waited for the other players to finish filming their Insta stories. The stories will probably be gone by the time you read this, but videos are floating around social media.
