The Colorado Avalanche are back on a winning streak. We look back at the team’s social media highlights of the past week.
After an overtime loss to the Dallas Stars, the Colorado Avalanche were back on the ice for practice the next day. Hockey players are not the most hygienic of people at the best of times, but when you’ve grossed out the social media team who are around you all the time you know you’ve gone a step too far.

As the year, and the decade, came to a close some of the Avalanche players talked about their favourite New Year memories. Andre Burakovsky, of course, had to go just that one step further than everyone else.

Last year the Avalanche launched a successful campaign to get Gabriel Landeskog added as a last man in for the NHL All-Star game. This year Cale Makar is on the ballot. Things are starting off quite normally but I suspect they will escalate before the end of the voting period.
The Captain and the Rookie.

It's what we want.
It's what the Central needs.https://t.co/YXfPIeopDn#NateNeedsCale #GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/MF8EmUAaFT
Although Nikita Zadorov is a known menace it seems that Gabriel Landeskog has something of the menace in him too. Here he is pretending a rebounded puck hit him in the face. Zadorov doesn’t buy it for a second.
This is a wild rollercoaster of Landy + Z’s relationship...#GoAvsGo https://t.co/i7CUM7MbKj

It was a good day for social media content. As soon as practice was over Erik Johnson was given a puppy to hold.

And then, continuing the puppy theme, it was time for the January pet calendar.

And, of course, with the puppy calendar comes the adorable behind the scenes footage.

Clearly all was forgiven after their little scrap during practice. Nikita Zadorov and Gabriel Landeskog were spotted entering the arena together ahead of the game against the St Louis.

As predicted the bid for Cale Makar’s addition to the All-Star game soon escalated, with an all kale menu being offered on the flight to New Jersey.
A special menu for Nathan MacKinnon this morning.

After the win against the Blues, sprirts were clearly high. After ‘scrapping’ with Nikita Zadorov, Gabriel Landeskog decided to make love not war by giving Sam Girard a cuddle on the ice.

Zadorov, naturally, responded by gloating about Russia’s victory over Sweden in the World Junior championship earlier that day.

Not content to pester Landeskog on the ice, Zadorov decided it was time to resume his long-running efforts to pester the media team as well.

This is an excellent photo of Erik Johnson and the fact that the media team gave it its own tweet tells me that they think so too.

The Colorado Avalanche have two games in New York before returning home for a five game homestand.
