The Colorado Avalanche have been in neutral for the last couple weeks, so it will be interesting to see if they can start off the new decade in a higher gear. This could be the decade of the Avalanche.

With that being said, the Colorado Avalanche haven’t been playing bad hockey as of late, they have just had some difficulty beating central division opponents and closing out games in general has become an issue. Let’s see if the Avalanche can right the ship in January.

Jan 2 vs. St. Louis Blues

I think it’s time we start winning central division games, so this is a perfect time to start against the defending Stanley Cup Champions. The Colorado Avalanche are finally healthy and ready to roar into the New Year and defeating the current champs would send an official message to the league.

Jan 10 vs Pittsburgh Penguins

The battle of the Tim Hortons drive thru workers. Or the battle of the Cole Harbor natives. Or the battle of two of the best hockey players in the world. Nathan Mackinnon and Sidney Crosby are must see entertainment, and the Pepsi Center is the place to be.

Jan 16 vs San Jose Sharks

I’ve been waiting for this game for some time now. Since May 8th to be exact… Game 7, the Landeskog “offside”, the whole nine yards. This is absolutely a revenge game for the Colorado avalanche and I expect blood in the water, but that blood will belong to a dead shark.

Jan 20 vs Detroit Redwings

The rivalry isn’t what it used to be, but my hatred is still there. The Redwings are the worst team in the NHL and the Avalanche will make sure that remains. The Avalanche 25 year playoff reign has just begun and the Redwings are in a complete tailspin. I almost want to feel sorry for the Redwings. Wait, no I don’t.  Life is all good in Denver.
