Colorado Avalanche Post to Post ’19: Best Regular Season Social Media Highlights Week 12
The Colorado Avalanche are still holding onto their second place Western Conference spot. We look back at some of the team’s social media highlights of the past week.
As the Colorado Avalanche get ready for the holidays, a familar figure wearing red was spotted at the practice facility. No, it’s not Santa.
Nathan MacKinnon, in particular, seemed pleased to see him (even if he did temporarily forget that red jersey means no contact).
As the team hit the road to take on the St Louis Blues it seems that everyone is now invested in the #BurkySmirk. This is what I love about the media team’s relationship with both the fans and the team as a whole. I tweeted #BurkySmirk as a joke back at the start of the season, the media team picked it up and ran with it, and now the rest of the roster is having fun with it too.

And when he’s not smirking or scoring goals Andre Burakovsky is doing…whatever this is. The important thing is he’s having fun.
It’s clear that the team are in good spirits, having fun and joking around in the locker room.
The media team, after years of calling Nikita Zadorov a menace, have clearly learned a thing or two from him.
I do worry that the media team aren’t eating enough given how often they get distracted by snacks.
It’s not often that we see Coach Bednar featured on social media outside of official press conferences, so this feature about him and his ties was a lot of fun.
Nikita Zadorov back to his menacing ways.
It’s nice to see that Ryan Graves has been drawn into the elaborate warm up routines that some of the players have.
Nathan MacKinnon and Andre Burakovsky have formed a friendship which is delightful to see, and now the media team have given them their own special mashup name.
It’s important to focus on the little details during a game. I love that the media team posts things like this as well as reporting on what’s happening on the ice.
The Avalanche seem to have a few players with curly hair, and the media team likes to show them off.
The team was back to playing two touch in Chicago, this time without Nikta Zadorov trying to interfere. Burakovsky in the final two again.
Not a smirk but it’s possible Burakovsky has also been taking lessons from Mikko Rantanen.
During the game in Chicago the NBC commentators kept calling Ryan Graves ‘Adam Graves’. This was the media team’s response. Sometimes you don’t need words.
It’s nice to see the scratched players still getting involved even when they’re not playing.
This week the team held their annual Star Wars night and the graphics team came up with some pretty amazing posters for the occasion.
The Carolina Hurricanes and the Avalanche twitter accounts have stuck up a friendship this year and it’s nice to see that translate into an offline friendship too.
Burakovky’s smile was missing ahead of the game against Carolina and the media team were clearly not happy and looking for someone to blame.
It’s definitely not Star Wars night until you celebrate Erik Johnson’s return with a Star Wars pun.
It’s always fun seeing Gabriel Landeskog do his puck toss during warm ups. It’s even more fun when he gets excited about it.
Burakovsky’s smile was back so the media team were happy once again. Probably a good thing because in a media team vs Landeskog fight my money would have to be on Landy.
The name is definitely sticking.
Gabriel Landeskog is known to get a bit scrappy at times. If gifs like this are the result I am definitely not going to complain.
It’s been a while since I talked about airport suits but this photo of Erik Johnson definitely needs a mention. The sunglasses tucked into the open buttons is definitely a good look for him.
On the other end of the spectrum Gabriel Landeskog opted to dress like a Canadian lumberjack and, honestly, that’s a good look for him too.
And, of course, the smile.
It’s not Christmas without some silly games.
Of course Nikita Zadorov wanted to be involved.
The Avalanche face the Golden Knights tonight before having a small break for the holidays. They’ll be back on Friday to face the Minnesota Wild at home in Denver.
