A supposed prototype of the Colorado Avalanche’s 2020 Stadium Series game jersey has been leaked, causing volatile reactions in fans.

The Colorado Avalanche will be holding their second outdoor game on February 15, 2020. Outdoor games usually come with a new uniform for the two teams involved.

Of course, when we had the Stadium Series game in 2016, Colorado went throwback with home whites and jerseys that paid homage to the state’s history:

At the time of their release, many Avs fans reacted to the… enormity of the numbers on the sleeves. I mean, they are unmistakable. But that’s helpful when you’re watching a game from so far away.

Well, reaction to the supposed outdoor game jerseys has been far more critical. Recently, Icethetics, leaked an image said to be the new Stadium Series jersey:

Many fans reacted to the pictures with gifs of people vomiting. I’m going to omit those from the post — you can click on the Twitter link if you want to see them.

More than one fan wondered if they’d been designed by elementary school kids.

I think it’s safe to say this Avs fan isn’t a jersey fan:

This Avs fan also doesn’t like the designers of the jersey:

Some fans don’t mind the Stadium Series jerseys. For one fan, the ugliness is on point:

Yet another fan tried to find the good in the jersey design:

I, like most Colorado Avalanche fans, hated the jersey on sight. However, the more I look at it, the more I hope it’s a prototype that the designers are going to use to work out the bugs.

One of the bugs is that big swath of burgundy fabric at the bottom. Why? Put the trademark “mountain” border at the bottom:

Also, while I like the stylized logo, get rid of those stripes radiating out from the bottom of the A. It’s a logo — it doesn’t have to be connected to everything else. (See picture above.)

I also get the feeling the leaked jersey isn’t the real deal. The Colorado Avalanche absolutely love to pay homage to their Glory Days when they first moved to Denver in the form of home whites. You not only saw it in their Stadium Series jersey from three years ago, you see it at every draft. Draftees wear home white even though that’s not a thing anymore.

As you can see, other teams don’t do that. (Except for the Vegas Golden Knights because they’re copycats.) So, I think they’d keep up with that tradition and implement home whites for the next outdoor game.

Hey, even if the above prototype ends up being the real deal for out Stadium Series jersey, at least we’re not the Dallas Stars, calling ourselves STDrs:

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Also, with such a colorful jersey, there should be no way the Colorado Avalanche would wear white pants like Tyler Seguin above or the L.A. Kings a few years ago:

They looked like they were wearing rompers. Hey, if the Avs aren’t doing home whites, maybe the LA Kings can design some new rompers for themselves.

So, Avs Nation, what do you think of the proposed outdoor game jerseys for the Colorado Avalanche? Would you buy one if that turns out to be the real model?
