Let’s face it: the Colorado Avalanche, among their many other virtues, are very adorable, especially when meeting fans.

It was that time of the year again, one where there was no stress about defeating another team for a spot in the playoffs, nor were fans worried about injuries and their consequences in the team: the Colorado Avalanche’s annual Meet The Team Party for season team members. Because even if you are not among those who have the pleasure of attending, the content is just too good.

The Colorado Avalanche appreciate their fans and they always make sure we know it, and the Meet The Team event also allows us to see another side of them – again, you don’t have to be there to see it, as the media team does an excellent job in sharing the absolute best content. Thanks to that (and because they are all truly adorable), it’s time to choose which Avalanche player was the most adorable during the event. Here are the nominees:

Cale Makar

But of course. One of the team’s younglings has to be among the nominees. If you don’t think he’s adorable enough by just standing there and breathe, here’s Cale Makar playing Jenga with with a young fan… and trying to stop the tower from falling with his leg. Oh sweet summer child.

In fact, Makar is naturally adorable, so there was no way he couldn’t be a contender.

Mikko Rantanen

There’s this very adorable thing Mikko Rantanen always does that automatically makes him a contender for the “Most Adorable” award. No, it’s not his laugh. No, it’s not how he makes fun of Gabriel Landeskog‘s head – it’s how he sticks his tongue out all the time, even when playing cornhole with fans. Never change, Mikko.

Sam Girard

Is he quiet and can look a bit too serious sometimes? Yes. Is he actually pretty adorable underneath those layers? Absolutely. Case in point: Sam Girard helping a young fan gain some advantage in cornhole. It didn’t have the desired results, but the intention is what counts.

Joonas Donskoi, Mikko Rantanen, and Colin Wilson

Who says photo ops aren’t fun?! And if it involves Colorado Avalanche players, like, let’s say, Joonas Donskoi, Mikko Rantanen, and Colin Wilson, fun is definitely included in the package. These three have great chemistry together and are a good mix of fun and adorable – just look at them.

And we don’t know why they are the way they are, but we are grateful they are like that.

Erik Johnson

Certified Big Soft Erik Johnson is definitely a contender. Sure, he can kill a man or 20 on the ice if they even think of harming his teammates, but he can also be the biggest sweetheart. A young fan saw EJ and thought “this is it. This is my moment. I can attack Erik Johnson”, but he wasn’t counting on EJ being ready to fight back… in the most adorable way. No penalties were called here.

And we obviously support this campaign:

Pierre-Édouard Bellemare

He might look like a tough guy sometimes, but he’s actually pretty fun and adorable – no wonder he blended in so quickly. Bellemare spent some time playing with the youngest fans in attendance, and one of those moments was (thankfully) immortalized. Warning: too cute.

Ryan Graves

There’s not enough Ryan Graves and that’s a real tragedy, but the Avs media team was kind enough to share this pic, which is pretty much all that was needed for him to qualify for the award. Shout-out to Ian Cole for such an adorable reaction to Gravy being this fan’s favorite.

Final verdict

They are all adorable. The End.

But if we have to choose an absolute winner, it’s – drum roll, please…

Erik Johnson. How can you look at that clip and not smile? It’s impossible. Stay adorable, EJ.

In addition to being absolutely adorable, the Colorado Avalanche are on a roll early on in the season and will aim to continue with the good streak on the road.
