When the Colorado Avalanche traded Tyson Barrie in the off-season there was an outpouring of sadness from Avs fans. He will be missed in Colorado.

What an emotional roller coaster ride Colorado Avalanche fans had during the off-season when word broke that TB4 – Tyson Barrie – had been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

There was an immediate outpouring on Twitter expressing the sadness everyone felt in hearing the news he would no longer be part of the team we love.

It’s one of those strange phenomena. We all know that trades happen during the off-season. And there was the talk of Barrie being traded during the later part of the season.

Every year players come and go from teams. It’s the nature of this professional sport we love, ice hockey.

And yet, when a player has played with your team for a number of years, they become part of your ‘Family.’  Tyson Barrie was certainly part of the Colorado Avalanche family and that makes it harder when he left.

The outpouring of sadness continued for weeks following the trade and into pre-season. When Barrie chose the #94 as his jersey number for the Maple Leafs another wave of messages surfaced about the sadness of losing him.

I can’t imagine what it was like for Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog and Sam Girard to have their core teammate leave. Not only a teammate but also a good friend.

Gabriel Landeskog posted a picture on Instagram of him and Tyson catching up not long after the trade was made. It included a heartfelt message.

In a Podcast interview that Nathan MacKinnon did in the off-season, he commented about missing Tyson.

It’s hard to imagine what turning up to training camp was like for the players knowing he wasn’t going to be there.

It was hard enough for Colorado Avalanche fans to comprehend the move and they didn’t spend their time with him, both on and off the ice.

I can only imagine how much harder it is for the players to get used to him not being around.

Maybe it’s time for Colorado Avalanche fans to celebrate the fact that we had Tyson Barrie as an Av for six years.

He set a record for the most points scored by an Avalanche defenseman, breaking John-Michael Lisle’s record.  No one can take that away from him.

All of the video’s of Tyson being a part of the Avalanche charity events are still there for fans to see.

Next. Goodbye, Tyson Barrie. dark

Tyson Barrie is a great, caring, all-round wonderful guy who will always be part of the Avalanche Family no matter what team jersey he wears on his back in any given year.

I’m sure Av’s fans wish him well at his new club for the coming 2019-20 season.
