Two new Colorado Avalanche related Instagram accounts have made the summer slightly more bearable.

Once free agency has settled there’s very little for Colorado Avalanche fans to do but sit and wait for training camp to begin. Most of us stay glued for to social media for any tidbits of news (no, Mikko Rantanen still hasn’t re-signed).

It’s also a time for living vicariously through others, as the players update their Instagram pages with white sandy beaches and other exotic locations as they enjoy some much needed vacation time.

While most of the Avalanche roster have official Instagram accounts, captain Gabriel Landeskog has been noticeably absent. There’s nothing to say he has to have a social media presence on all platforms, of course. He has a Twitter account which he uses to talk about the horse that’s named after him and to blame Mikko for an on-ice collision.

But a couple of months ago he decided to join the world of Instagram.

Immediately after joining he started teasing Mikko, who is one of his closest friends on the team, and this set the tone for things to come.

He was quick to let it be known how he truly feels about Mikko, though.

His Instagram Stories have been delightful as well, including naps on the couch with his dog, canoeing with his dog (are you picking up on a theme yet?), hammering nails into a log (which sent me down a rabbit hole learning all about hammerschlagen),  and saying he misses his sauna buddy (Mikko).

There hasn’t been much in the way of exotic vacation photos but we were treated to this fashion statement with bonus cute dog.

And, while we’re on the subject of dogs, a lot of hockey players’ dogs have their own instagram accounts. In fact Gabe’s dog Zoey had an official Instagram long before he did.

The latest dog to join the Avalanche family is Sam Girard‘s dog, Tornade.

Named after Girard’s signature spin move Tornade has already proven to be very popular with Avalanche fans. Whether he’s playing with his dad

Tornade was even there when Girard signed his seven year extension with the team.

Living up to his namesake Tornade has been learning how to copy his dad’s signature move.

He doesn’t seem to be too impressed with Girard’s singing but he does like to dance.

It’s been interesting seeing some of the things our captain gets up to during the offseason, and the adventures of Tornade. Hopefully this content will continue until hockey starts back up again.
