The Colorado Avalanche’s star center, Nathan MacKinnon, appears to be readying for a move to downtown Denver, very close to the Pepsi Center.

Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon is apparently moving on up — literally, to “a deluxe apartment in the sky.” Well, a penthouse condo in LoDo.

According to BusinessDen, MacKinnon has purchased the last of seven penthouse condos at a swanky complex behind Union Station called The Coloradan. The high-rise building is part of that whole built-up neighborhood behind Uniion Station, near where the Whole Foods is located. As little as six years ago, the area was just one big field.

Anyway, MacKinnon reportedly paid $3.2 million this week to secure the last condo in the new building. Judging by other penthouse units at that price point, his new digs are probably around 3,000 square feet, probably two to three bedrooms.

It’s literally five blocks away from Pepsi Center, which would definitely be a boon.

Nathan already has a house in the Washington Park area. Per BusinessDen, his Wash Park residence is four bedrooms and five baths. I have no idea if MacKinnon is selling/has sold his Wash Park home.

According to Sportsnet, MacKinnon also owns a summer home near his home of Cole Harbour at Grand Lake. The reporter doesn’t release the specs, but it apparently has a coach house and overlooks both the water and the putting green. Naturally, it also features a swimming pool. The most kitted out room, of course, is the home gym.

Those are the facts. Now, onto my opinion. Super cool for MacK Daddy, I want him to have everything his heart desires as our superstar. (Most especially a Stanley Cup.)

However, I also have so many questions, none of which I expect to be answered, because they’re none of my business. But, I’m still curious as heck.

Did MacK sell his Wash Park home? And if so, why? I could understand his buying the downtown digs back in the day when he was single and fancy free. But now it appears he’s settling into long-term relationship status. Plus, his parents always live with him at least part of the time — that’s been reported in numerous outlets.

Most importantly, what about all his dogs? He’s got at least a German shepherd that only answers to German and one or two others, according to his Instagram. Speaking of that former dog, Oliver Ekman-Larsson recently got bitten by his guard German shepherd and had to put the poor dear down. I hope Nathan is better at training his dog than OEL. (I’m sure he is.)

This purchase by MacKinnon is the second weird housing news to come from the Colorado Avalanche this summer. A couple weeks ago, Avs insider Adrian Dater casually tweeted that former Av Alexander Kerfoot was getting much more recognized in Toronto than when he lived in Boulder.

What?! Why would you live in Boulder when you work in Centennial, where the Avs’ practice facility is located? That’s at the very best, a 1 1/2-hour commute — each way. And on game days, you’d hardly have time to get home after morning skate and take your nap before turning around and returning to Pepsi Center.

Why not live close to the arena or practice facility and just go to Boulder during your off time?

Ah, well, like I said — Colorado Avalanche players can certainly live their lives wherever they see fit. All that matters that they’re happy and creating the magic on Pepsi Center ice.

By the way, in case you’d like to be Nathan MacKinnon’s neighbor, there’s still one- and two-bedroom units available. You can get a one-bedroom between $535,000 – $800,000 and a two-bedroom between $775,000-$1,200,000. And, I have to tell you, if that includes parking, those prices aren’t half bad for downtown Denver.
