The Colorado Avalanche started their bye week with the top line taking part in the All-Star Weekend. We look at some of the best social media posts from the team.

As the Colorado Avalanche headed to San Jose for the All-Star Weekend a weather check shows a slight difference in temperature.

It wasn’t long before the media team was gently making fun of Mikko Rantanen.

Mikko is clearly having the time of his life this weekend, and making slightly unusual but amusing requests of the media team.

His excitement is palpable in these photos. He’s clearly loving the whole atmosphere and just wants to take it all in (even if he is in the background of an interview).

Someone decided that giving Mikko a weapon was a good idea. He looks far too excited about this.

It’s still not clear exactly why Mikko’s t-shirt canon was loaded with cupcakes and confetti but it’s All-Star Weekend and things happen.

Nathan Mackinnon was unable to participate in the skills contest due to injury so he nominated women’s Olympic gold medalist Kendall Coyne Schofield to take his place in the Fastest Skater event.

The Avalanche top line were looking good in their coordinated suits (which they say was a deliberate choice but it sounds like the media team is dubious).

It’s so nice to see that Gabriel Landeskog‘s teammates have so much faith and support in him.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the top line donning socks with each other’s faces on.

It’s a nice touch that each player is wearing a sock of each of the other two.

While Gabe and Mikko were getting their sticks ready they decided to have a look at some of the other players’. This is what makes the All-Star Weekend such fun. Players that wouldn’t normally get to hang out are all mixed together (and get to check out each others gear). Gabe and Mikko are like kids in a candy store here.

This tweet is a riddle wrapped in an enigma, but Gabe and Mikko look like they’re having fun so that’s all that matters.

I always find it interesting seeing the different ways players tape their sticks.

You haven’t truly been at All-Star weekend until you’ve taken a selfie with your teammates.

Nate certainly seemed to be enjoying watching Mikko take part in the passing challenge.

And the gentle making fun of Mikko continues.

The media team wanted to do an instagram live stream. It went pretty much as you would expect.

All-Star Weekend is the perfect time to catch up with your friends from other teams.

When Gabe and Mikko are wearing their skates and Nate is not it makes for a fun photo.

The All-Star Game got off to a good start with Mikko scoring the first goal for the Central Division.

The second goal was scored by Gabe.

And then the goals kept coming.

After the effort that went into the #GetGabeIn campaign the media team definitely have the right to be a little smug about how well he performed.

Ryan O’Reilly had a few things to say about his former teammate and good friend, who stepped into the role of coach when his injury wouldn’t allow him to play.

Gabe also had his own comments to offer on the new coach.

Gabe and Mikko had very clear opinions on who should be MVP this weekend.

Although the Central Division lost in the final, Gabe carried on with his scoring and got the team on the board with the first goal.

Followed (of course) by Mikko.

Coach Nate was clearly enjoying watching his teammates dominate on the ice.

And to carry things on Mikko scored another goal.

All in all Gabe and Mikko had a pretty impressive night.

With the help of Coach Nate, of course.

Although he came 2nd in the MVP vote, losing out to Sidney Crosby, it’s clear Gabe had fun.

As the Avalanche now enter their bye week our top line can rest easy having shown everyone what they can do on the ice, and had a lot of fun in the meantime. During the break the media team will have fun things to keep us entertained on social media, as usual. We’ll be back with more social media highlights next week.
