The Colorado Avalanche failed to land a win after another lengthy break in the schedule. We look back at the social media highlights of the past week.
The Colorado Avalanche social media team always make sure to note when a player is celebrating their birthday. It was nice to see that, when Matt Nieto celebrated his birthday at the start of the week, his full title was used.
Happy Birthday, Long Beach Native Matt Nieto!#GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/I6x79PfLlW

It’s always interesting when players are about to face their old team, especially when that team is the one that knocked the Avalanche out of the playoffs last season. Colin Wilson offered some insight ahead of the game.
“[Nashville is] a great team, but I like the way we matched up against them.”#GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/J356gn5dRp

The Avalanche took some time during the break to do some excellent work in the community. Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Bourque spent some time with young kids affected by cancer.

Colin Wilson and Matt Nieto spent time serving dinner at a local homeless shelter. It’s so nice to see the team getting out into the community and helping those who need it the most.

The game against the Nashville Predators saw the unveiling of this year’s third jerseys, and they look good!
Hockey is back.

These third jerseys are back.
Is this real life!?
FINALLY. #GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/isuB5X4uMG
Colin Wilson took time during warmups to have a little chat with his former goaltender. There was much speculation over what they might be talking about.
What are they chatting about...?#GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/zqEomNHNbd

Although the team didn’t come away with a win, we were all impressed by Nathan MacKinnon’s skill with the puck.
Imagine never watching Nathan MacKinnon play hockey.

WHAT A TREAT we get to see him every game. #GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/zGAjfas0mb
Emotions were running high, especially after two goals awarded to the Avalanche were later overturned.
IS THIS FOR REAL!?

A lot of attention was drawn to the schedule following the recent string of losses. However, Gabriel Landeskog, ever the good captain was not here to latch onto excuses. It could have been easy for him to blame the schedule for the team’s recent performance but he didn’t.
“To be honest, I don’t care about our schedule, if we’re on the road or at home. We just need to go win hockey games.”#GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/azXsaKuKHw
— Colorado Avalanche (@Avalanche) November 8, 2018
However, I think everyone is glad to be back into a regular routine.
Good news, Avs fans: we have a normal schedule again!#GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/BmUStzoZVx

As mentioned last week, the work the team does in promoting STEM for kids is something I consider to be very important, especially for young girls. It was great to see a little girl talking at length about STEM as part of National STEM Day.
What temperature is the puck frozen to for games?
— Colorado Avalanche (@Avalanche) November 8, 2018
Tyson and Tyson found out that answer and more through Future Goals. Happy #NationalSTEMDay!

Another road trip means more suits to enjoy. Patrik Nemeth is looking good in this three piece.

Gabrile Landeskog demonstrates good leadership all the time, and recently learned how firefighters apply those skills.

Mark Barberio is sporting an impressive moustache for Movember. He almost looks like a completely different person.
While the team were in Winnipeg Lauren Gardner and Marc Moser recorded the latest episode of the Colorado Avalanche podcast Avs in Your Earholes. When not reporting on sport, Mose could evidently have a side career as a fashion critic.
