The Colorado Avalanche have concluded their first road trip of the season. We look at some of their best social media posts this week.

Colorado Avalanche Defenceman Ian Cole was mic’d up and showed us all just how chatty he can be. When he was signed to the team GM Joe Sakic said one of the things Cole brings is leadership to the blue line so it’s interesting watching his dynamic with the other players here. Cole clearly has a pretty forceful personality so we’ll have to see how that integrates with the rest of the team.

The team embarked on their first road trip, opting for a slightly more casual look to their suits. It works for them, though.

With the start of their first road trip the Avs have unveiled some fantastic new road trip graphics. As someone with a mediocre at best knowledge of US geography it’s great to see where the team will be travelling to as well as key information about the games while they’re on the road.

Of course it’s not just about the hockey. Sometimes you just need to kick back and enjoy the team playing Heads Up while wearing mouthguards. Tyson Barrie‘s exasperation at Matt Nieto not knowing Moby Dick is a forever mood.

It was Goaltender Philipp Grubauer‘s first time between the pipes for a regular season game and with it came a very important question.

The Avs social media team isn’t just here to tell us about the Colorado Avalanche. They’re full of interesting facts about the other NHL teams too.

Although the team lost their first road game against Columbus the game did give us what is a pretty phenomenal goal from Nathan MacKinnon.

You know it’s serious when Erik Johnson is called ‘Erik’ in a tweet instead of EJ. As it turns out Erik actually knocked Gabe down first and then helped him up afterwards. Well, it’s the thought that counts.

Kyle Keefe was filling in for Lauren Gardner on the podcast this week and they went to great heights to record it. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to speak if I was that high up, let alone record a podcast.

Colin Wilson‘s season is off to a good start, and the media team appears to agree.

The road trip concluded with a solid win in Buffalo, and the road trip graphic is now an even cooler road trip animation. The graphics team seem to really have stepped up their game this season. Everything is just that little bit slicker.

Saturday saw the Colorado Avalanche run their first ever Girls Night which focused on girls and women’s hockey in the Colorado area. We will be running a more in-depth feature on this event in the next couple of days but in the meantime here’s some of the social media highlights.

Before the Avalanche took to the ice to take on the Calgary Flames there was a women’s hockey game where the Colorado Women’s U19 team took on the University of Colorado women’s team.

To celebrate women’s hockey Lauren Gardner took over as PA for the Avalanche game.

Since it was Lauren’s first PA gig she asked some of the Avalanche players if they had any advice for her. Tyson Barrie, in typical fashion, started with earnest advice but then had to add on that she should credit all assists to him even if they didn’t happen.

Looks like she nailed it though, and one of those assists actually was from Barrie.

We’re only a couple of weeks into the season and I could already write an entire post about Nikita Zadorov‘s suits.

The team commences another road trip this week and will be on the road for the next four games.
