Colorado Avalanche Post to Post: Best Regular Season Week 1 Social Media

The Colorado Avalanche regular season is now under way and the team has two wins under their belt. We look at some of their best social media posts this week.

The Colorado Avalanche preseason wrapped with a win in Dallas and a little #TysonTuesday joke.

Gabriel Landeskog is a good captain, and he takes his role seriously. But you’ve got to love it when he gets the giggles.

As we moved into October the team decided some important market research was necessary. A lot of people were wrong about the importance of all the pumpkin (+hockey).

Of course, on October 3rd the Avs couldn’t let the day pass without a Mean Girls reference. Unfortunately it didn’t go quite according to plan. Clearly someone needs to sit Tyson Jost down and improve his movie education.

Once again the Avs have put together videos introducing each of the players to the fans. This was a lot of fun last year where the players talked about their nicknames for each other. This year it’s a little less goofy, with the players talking about when they first started playing hockey, but it’s still really interesting.

Episode 4 of the Avs podcast launched. It’s only a short one compared to the others but they recorded it during practice the morning of the first game of the season. Just hearing the sounds of hockey in the background while they break down the first game gives it that little extra something.

It’s no secret that there’s a big rivalry between the Colorado Avalanche and the Minnesota Wild. The social media team decided to have a bit of fun with it prior to the home opener against them.

And with the start of a new season came some shiny new lineup graphics. I really love these.

And another Mean Girls reference slipped in during the game, which might be confusing for those who don’t even go here, but certainly made me smile.

I’m really loving the new result graphics too (and that sweet score isn’t bad to look at either).

And another little nudge at that old rivalry. I know I was definitely wondering about this.

Saturday saw the Avalanche face the Philadelphia Flyers and there was a familiar face back in town.

For anyone who may have been living under a rock for the past couple of week the Flyers’ new mascot Gritty has become something of a cult figure. So, of course, the Avs social media team had to slip a little pun in there.

I’ve grown quite attached to Colin Wilson so I’m really pleased to see he’s doing well this season.

This is a photo definitely worth saving.

This week the Avalanche have their first road trip, so expect suit photos at the airport and hopefully more goals and wins.
