The Colorado Avalanche forwards representing at IIHF Worlds have been making waves — of all kinds.

Three Colorado Avalanche forwards are representing their countries at the 2018 IIHF World Championship — Tyson Jost (Canada), Mikko Rantanen (Finland) and Sven Andrighetto (Switzerland).

Rantenen has appeared in two games for Team Finland so far. He has four points so far — a goal and three assists.

Here is Rantanen’s assist on Sebastian Aho’s goal:

Here Rantanen earns an assist Teuvo Teravainen’s goal:

Rantanen also scored a goal against Team Latvia:

Apparently Mikko also learned some new dance moves:

Center Tyson Jost is normally the one who breaks out the dance moves. However, this IIHF Worlds he’s been too busy scoring goals. He’s played two games for Team Canada and has recorded three goals and an assist.

The Canadians dominated the Koreans yesterday, winning 10-0. (That’s just embarrassing.) Jost earned two goals and an assist.

Here’s the first goal Jost scored to make it 2-0 Canada:

This little Jost tap-in put Canada up 7-0:

Here’s his assist on Jordan Eberle’s goal, which put the Canadians up that 10-0 (as well as links to the other two goals):

Team Canada also dominated Denmark, winning 7-1. Tyson Jost got goal #7 for the Canadians:

That’s a very pretty goal.

Sven Andrighetto has only played one game for Team Switzerland, their 3-2 beating of Austria. He has not earned any points. However, he did earn an impressive 25 minutes worth of penalty minutes, all in that single game.

They came about because of this play:

That looks like a knee-on-knee hit, and it appears Steven Strong had to be wheeled out on a stretcher. Andrighetto was thrown out of the game.

I don’t think Sven meant to target the knee. Both players had their knees out, and they just seemed to collide awkwardly. Plus, Andrighetto isn’t known for that kind of dirty play. I especially wouldn’t expect to see it from him in an international competition.

That said, Andrighetto wasn’t in the lineup for the 2-0 victory over Team Slovakia. I don’t know if he faced any supplemental discipline or if the coach simply decided against playing him.

In any case, Team Switzerland is in third place for Group A. Team Canada is just behind Team USA, being second place for Group B. Team Finland is in third place for Group B.

Tomorrow the Swiss will face the Czechs and the Finns will face the Norwegians. We have to wait until May 10 to see Team Canada again, this time facing Team Norway.
