Colorado Avalanche fan blog Mile High Sticking wants to hear from you, the Avs fandom. Share your stories during August, our inaugural fan appreciation month.

Are you a Colorado Avalanche fan? Of course you are or you wouldn’t be reading a fan blog about the Avs!

It’s been a tough season for Colorado Avalanche fans. It’s not just that we didn’t get the result we wanted — our team reached some new lows. We know that won’t be the case moving forward. With the eternal optimism of sports fans, we believe next season will be better.. When you’re at the bottom, there’s only one way to go, right?

Well, a lot of Avs fans have jumped ship. We know they’ll be back. Hopefully they find their way to this post. Because we want to celebrate Avs Nation, Avs Fam — what we think is the best fanbase in sports. (Even when we don’t see eye to eye.)

This August is going to be fan appreciation month. We want to share your stories. Why are you an Avalanche fan? What’s your favorite Avalanche memory? What do YOU think the team should do moving forward?

More from Mile High Sticking

These stories are going to be unique to you. Perhaps you were there from Day 1, when the NHL announced it was relocating the Quebec Nordiques to Colorado. Heck, maybe you were a Nordiques or even a Colorado Rockies (hockey) fan! Or maybe you’re just finding your way to the team.

Are you a season ticket holder? Do you have to wait for the one game a year when the Colorado Avalanche come to your city because you’re from elsewhere? Can you only go to a handful of games?

Maybe you’ve had the opportunity to go to some of the team-sponsored events, such as the watch parties, gala, charity brunch or even the Meet the Players event. Have you been to Hockey in Heels or Guys’ Night Out?

Are your kids rabid Avs fans? Maybe your dog/cat/horse/gerbil has an Avs sweater or scarf. Maybe you’ve named your pet — or kid — after the players or the Avalanche in general. Or maybe you just have the best idea as armchair GM of what this team needs to do.

The point is, we want to take this August to celebrate the diversity in Avs Nation. So, if you’re willing to share your story, contact us. Leave a comment at the bottom of this post. DM us on Twitter or Facebook. We’ll talk to you about your ideas and come up with a post together.

Don’t be shy, Avs Fam. Let’s celebrate being fans of our Colorado Avalanche.
