Alexis Pepin

Position: Left Wing

Shoots: Right

Height: 6’2″

Weight: 225 pounds

Age: 20

Current Team: Val-d’Or Foreurs, QMJHL

Draft: 2014, 114th overall (4th round)

If Pajpach is an outlier to get a contract, Alexis Pepin is a full-out long-shot. Except… he partially fits the Colorado Avalanche mold. He’s big and aggressive, and he likes to drive to the net. He combines size with the ability to score goals.

Unfortunately, size has been something of a problem for Pepin. Apparently he came into 2014 training camp “overweight and out of shape,” as McKeens Hockey put it. In other words, work ethic can be something of a issue for Pepin, and that’s not going to fly with the Avs.

Here’s Pepin in action:

He’s a big, mean player, though, and I specifically remember him from last year’s training camp. I remember thinking he skated well and looked professional on the ice. Maybe he got himself sorted out between 2014 and 2015 — he’s just now 20, after all.
