Breakfast With The Avalanche – McDavid “the next great ‘bust’?”

Good morning Avs Nation! I hope you had a great Sunday and rested just as much as sports media did. At Mile High Sticking, we brought you another draft profile, namely that of defenseman Jérémy Lauzon, talked about our No. 1 D-man Erik Johnson and, well, another D-man — Nate Guenin. Other than that, there really wasn’t much going on in Avalanche Territory. But what about that: Jack Eichel could go back to Boston University and Connor McDavid won’t be the superstar in Edmonton that we expect him to be? We’ll find out soon. Until then, let’s see what the new week brings. Have a good start into yours!

Erik Johnson Talks Horses, American Pharoah — Nadia Archuleta of Mile High Sticking

"Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson is not just a hockey player. He’s also a horse racing aficionado. And Johnson knows his horses. In an interview with Altitude TV, Johnson relayed some of his expertise, especially related to the Belmont Stakes, the third race of the Triple Crown."

Nate Guenin: Avalanche Star of the Week — Nadia Archuleta of Mile High Sticking

"Colorado Avalanche defensemen Nate Guenin is a remarkably polarizing player considering he’s a mild-mannered sort. You either think he’s not nearly skilled enough to be a regular on an NHL team, or you’re Patrick Roy"

Jack Eichel Not a Lock for NHL in 2015-2016 — Marisa Ingemi of Frozen Futures

"Jack Eichel is more than likely going to be the second overall pick in the NHL draft to the Buffalo Sabres. The only question now is if the Boston University star will go right to the NHL or stay in college for another season."

Connor McDavid Will Struggle To Excel With The Edmonton Oilers — Patrick Quarry of Too Many Men On The Site

"Connor McDavid is talented.  He is the most talented player in the 2015 draft and he’ll make an immediate impact for the Edmonton Oilers.  But talent alone won’t prevent him from becoming the next great “bust”."
