Avs Nation: Don’t Give Up.

And stop comparing the current team to the Colorado Avalanche of a year ago. Yes, it was super-fun to watch a team go from dead-last in the conference to winning their division and making the playoffs for the first time in four years. As the old saying goes, though, that was then, and this is now.
Yes, the Colorado Avalanche is not performing the way we had hoped. I do not think there is a single player on the team, though, who has had a moment of thinking, “I don’t care. I get paid either way.” Not once. These are young guys with pride. They’re just faltering. I don’t know why, they don’t know why, coach Roy doesn’t know why — it’s just happening.
So, yes, it would be nice to see them shoot more, keep things simple, protect themselves, keep the puck in and keep a stiff upper lip. However, we have a duty on our end, too — to keep supporting our team. We’re the Avs Nation, and we don’t just love our team when they’re winning. We support them through the thick and the thin. We may boo, we may release a scathing tweet, but this is our team.
Every team from the currently low Edmonton Oilers (They were once mighty) to the fan-favorite Chicago Blackhawks (They had to give away seats for many years) has had highs and lows. We’ve been lucky enough to experience the highest highs (two Stanley Cups, which is more than the Minnesota Wild or St. Louis Blues can say) as well as the lows (Joe Sacco years). The Avalanche players are going to work hard on their part.
Let’s just enjoy the ride. Don’t give up on the Avalanche, Avs Nation — it’s not what we do.
