Avalanche vs. Kraken prediction and odds for NHL playoffs Game 3

The Colorado Avalanche and Seattle Kraken will face-off in a pivotal Game 3 in the Pacific Northwest on Saturday night.

The Kraken upset the Avs in Game 1, but let a 2-0 lead slip from their fingers in Game 2.

Now, the Kraken return home in an attempt to once again take the series lead, but the defending champs will have momentum after Thursday night’s victory.

Let’s dive into the odds for the game and then I’ll give you my best bet.

Avalanche vs. Kraken odds, puck line, and total

Avalanche vs. Kraken prediction and pick

The advanced analytics show that the Avalanche have been outplaying the Kraken through the first two games, so I’m going to trust those numbers and back Colorado tonight.

When looking at 5-on-5 expected goals, the Avs hold the advantage at 3.15-2.62. They’ve also been averaging 4.98 more shots on net per 60 minutes of playing throughout the series.

A large reason for the Kraken’s success has been the strong play of goaltender, Philipp Grubauer. I don’t expect him continue to play at a high level, considering he had a sub-.900 save percentage throughout the regular season.

If he stumbles, the Avalanche will be there to take advantage. I think they do exactly that tonight.
