Though the San Jose Sharks didn’t win the Stanley Cup, the Colorado Avalanche could still benefit from the team’s pending unrestricted free agents.

The Colorado Avalanche core need to learn winning ways. Unfortunately, it appears that the young players are stuck in the old cliche — how can I get experience if you don’t give me a job, but you won’t give me the job if I don’t have experience?

In other words, the young core need playoff experience to get into the playoffs. Enter one of my themes for the off-season — acquiring players with good playoff experience. These types of guys can show the Avs core the way to reach the playoffs so they can eventually succeed in the playoffs.

The San Jose Sharks did not win the Stanley Cup. Frankly, I was rooting for them, but they got steam-rolled by a crazy-good Pittsburgh Penguins team.

That said, the Sharks had 14 playoff victories this season. They marched past opponents like the LA Kings and the St. Louis Blues whom the hockey world didn’t expect them to beat. They were a good and tight team — and that success came from their players.

The Colorado Avalanche could benefit from players who have that winning way. Let’s look at four San Jose unrestricted free agents the Avs should consider.
