Scott Rovak-US PRESSWIRE

After a hard fought game on Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Colorado Avalanche headed to the “Gateway City” to duel with the St. Louis Blues.  With precious points on the line, the Avs needed to play some of their best hockey of the season Saturday night against a tough Blues team.  Well, it was the same ol’ song and dance with Colorado playing exceptionally well but coming up a goal short in the extra frame.

The O’Reilly Factor Depreciates The Hurricanes

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: No Comments

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

Joe Sacco’s worries were realized Friday night as the visiting Carolina Hurricanes came into Denver to face the Colorado Avalanche.  A day before the game, Sacco was worried that the Avalanche would not take the Hurricanes as serious as other teams, like Vancouver or Chicago.  One period into the game, the Avs found themselves in an all too familiar spot, trailing going into intermission and Sacco’s nightmare had become reality.  However, the team was not about to let Carolina steal a game from them especially on the first ever Military Appreciation Night at Pepsi Center.

Denver Under a Hurricane Warning For Friday

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: No Comments

Chris Humphreys-US PRESSWIRE

Two of nature’s most destructive forces collide in Denver on Friday night at Pepsi Center.  But unlike watching the actual natural disasters do battle, this contest should be fairly one-sided.  Since the game takes place in the Rocky Mountains at 5,280 feet above sea level only one natural disaster reigns supreme, an Avalanche.

Coming off a dominating win from Tuesday, the Avs look to continue with their winning ways tonight against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.  Colorado definitely capitalized on an opportunity to overpower a road worn Chicago team three nights ago.  Looking crisp and converting on stolen turnovers, the Avalanche put up 5 goals with ease.

Colorado Avalanche Snap Losing Streak With Help From David Jones

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: No Comments

Chris Humphreys-US PRESSWIRE

Maybe Joe Sacco should bring up more players in trade talks after what Jones accomplished Tuesday night at Pepsi Center.  Tuesday night’s game was foreshadowed with an article from the Denver Post that stated Jones might be a player the Avs try to move at the trade deadline.  After the game, talks may have simmered down just a bit.

Colorado Avalanche Welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to Pepsi Center

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: No Comments

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

Tonight the Blackhawks come hobbling into to Denver to take on an exasperated Avalanche team.  Both clubs are in the midst of a 5-game losing streak.  However they are two completely different streaks.  Chicago’s streak has consisted of mostly road blowouts; four out of the five games in fact Chicago has been pummeled on the road.  Colorado’s streak has consisted of one-goal losses in each of their last five games.

Colorado in the Middle of an Avalanche

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: No Comments

Anne-Marie Sorvin-US PRESSWIRE

An avalanche is one of nature’s most powerful natural disasters.  The most powerful avalanches have uprooted trees and have destroyed entire roads and buildings.  These natural disasters are caused by layers of snow building up on each other resulting in an unstable surface of snow mixed with ice.  It was because of this raw power and force that Coloradans chose to name their newly acquired hockey team from Quebec after these disasters that happen quite frequently in the backcountry Continue reading this post »
