With the Stanley Cup Playoffs starting tomorrow, the Colorado Avalanche will be spectators to the post season once again. With a valiant push at the end of the season, the Avs came up mere points shy of the elusive 8^th place spot in the Western Conference. The organization and fans can point to numerous chances the Avalanche had to clinch the spot and failed, but focusing on those moments will not make the playoffs come back.

Tonight will certainly tell the tale of whether or not the Colorado Avalanche make the playoffs. The first thing the Avs must do tonight is win. The second is to root for the Los Angeles Kings to take care of the Sharks in regulation. If either of those two things does not take place, the Avalanche can kiss the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs goodbye.
