The Avalanche were in Edmonton on Tuesday night to take on the Oilers and early on in the game it looked like it was going to be a tough night for Colorado.  The Oilers

The Colorado Avalanche were back on the ice Monday, January 30 in Edmonton, but they were still minus one.  Matt Duchene is still out with a knee injury suffered on December 29 against the Coyotes.  At first diagnosis Duchene was slated to miss only 4 weeks. Coming up on the fifth week, Duchene still looks to be out another two full weeks.

Probably the best sport’s sound bite is Jim Mora talking about playoffs.  Even though I would agree with Mora about not discussing the playoffs when they are so far away, there is no time like the present for the Avalanche to start their playoff run.   As we look ahead at the remaining 2 months of Colorado’s season, February seems like the month the Avalanche need to focus on to gain ground in the Western Conference.  February is

Last night I did not know if I was watching vampires and werewolves or the Molson Canadian NHL All-Star Skills Competition.  With all of the talk about which team each person is for, I was rather confused.  I for one was for Team Chara, not Alfredsson, Jacob or any other team for that matter.  There is one reason I am on Team Chara and his name is Gabriel Landeskog.

At Thursday’s 2012 All-Star Fantasy Draft, lone Colorado Avalanche representative Gabriel Landeskog was picked by captain Zdeno Chara and will don the blue jersey in Saturday’s Skills Competition.

Well, here we are again. The end of another year. The Avs are currently sitting in 11th and 1 point out of the 8th and final playoff spot. Now you may all be thinking that’s great news, and it is probably a really good thing, but with the beginning of January starting tomorrow, the Avs are going to face one hard month of hockey.
