Last season the Colorado Avalanche shocked the NHL won the Central Division crown. In the off-season, many Central Division teams underwent significant improvements. The St. Louis Blues added Paul Stastny, the Chicago Blackhawks added Brad Richards, the Dallas Stars added Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky, and Nashville Predators added James Neal, Mike Ribeiro, Olli Jokinen, and Derek Roy, the Minnesota Wild added Thomas Vanek, and the Winnipeg Jets…well, I’m sure they did something.
As the defending division champions, the Avs will have a target on their back. Teams made changes with the thoughts of knocking off the Los Angeles Kings and claiming the Stanley Cup in the mind, but before they get there, they have to go through the Avs and a tough Central Division.
