Nathan MacKinnon put up some amazing numbers in his rookie season. With the pressure of being the #1 overall pick, MacKinnon quickly silenced any critics with his stellar play throughout the regular season and playoffs. The 18-year old from Halifax native scored 24 goals in the regular season and added two more in the playoffs.

Now you can relive every single goal from MacKinnon’s Calder Trophy campaign. Whether it’s his first goal against the Washington Capitals, his clutch goal on Adam Foote night, one of his many snipes, his outstanding speed, or his ankle breaker in the playoffs; you can watch them all thanks to YouTube user SomeHockeyVideos.

I think I speak for every Avalanche fan when I say that I can’t wait to see what MacKinnon does for an encore in his sophomore season. Until then, I”ll just keep watching this video and remember why I never doubted Joe Sakic and Patrick Roy when they took Nathan MacKinnon over Seth Jones in the NHL Draft.

My personal favorite goal from this clip is MacKinnon’s snipe against the Dallas Stars following a drop pass by Duchene, who used his speed to draw two defenders, freeing up MacKinnon to label a perfect shot past Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen. It reminded me so much of Sakic and his quick release and pinpoint accuracy.
